Fatal Crash Near U.S. Border Claims Life in Sainte-Lucie-de-Beauregard

A tragic incident unfolded in Sainte-Lucie-de-Beauregard, near the Maine border, where a driver lost his life in a devastating crash.

The unfortunate event took place in the early hours of Saturday on Principale Street, close to Route du Lac, in this quaint village with just under 300 inhabitants in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Montmagny MRC.

Quebec police (SQ) spokesperson Camille Savoie revealed that the driver, a man in his 40s who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, veered off the road under circumstances yet to be determined. The vehicle first landed in a ditch, then collided with a culvert before coming to a halt against a telecommunications pole, resulting in the driver’s tragic demise.

An SQ investigation is in progress, with a specialized collision investigator already on-site to gather crucial information.

Authorities plan to conduct a toxicological analysis on the victim to further the investigation.

The community mourns the loss as the investigation continues.
