Peel Region Authorities Apprehend Individual Linked to Brampton Transit Bus Stabbing Incident
Authorities in Peel Region have detained a man in connection to a violent altercation that took place on a Brampton transit bus last week.
The distressing incident unfolded on the night of Oct. 1, at approximately 9:30 p.m., near the intersection of Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive.
According to investigators, a confrontation erupted between the suspect and the victim, leading to a series of stabbing attacks by the alleged perpetrator.
The victim, a man in his twenties, sustained injuries that, fortunately, were not life-threatening.
Both the suspect and the victim were reported to be strangers to each other, with the suspect fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived.
The identified suspect, 31-year-old Brampton resident Harpreet Singh, was taken into custody on Oct. 4.
Singh faces a slew of serious criminal charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and breaching a court order. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Authorities have assured the public that the accused acted alone, and there are no ongoing safety concerns related to this particular incident.
