Authorities have ended an emergency alert in northern Ontario following the arrest of an individual believed to be armed and dangerous in the area.
The police had issued a shelter-in-place order on Friday evening as they searched for a 34-year-old man in the Temagami North and Latchford region. On Saturday, it was confirmed that the suspect had been apprehended, leading to the lifting of the alert on Sunday afternoon.
Details about potential charges and injuries were not immediately disclosed by the police. Meanwhile, Highway 11 remains shut down from Highway 65 in New Liskeard to Thibault Hill in North Bay, prompting motorists to seek alternative routes and brace for delays.
A notable law enforcement presence will be maintained in the vicinity of Roosevelt Road as the investigation progresses.
