“Ex-Candidate Arrested: Domestic Violence Survivor Breaks Silence”

A mother of two teenage daughters, who wishes to protect her identity for safety reasons, is speaking out against Dani Muzungu, a former municipal election candidate, urging authorities to keep him in police custody following an alleged assault.

The woman, who was reportedly attacked by Muzungu and claims he emptied her bank account, is raising concerns about a lack of protection and support within Quebec’s systems for domestic violence survivors. Muzungu, who was swiftly removed from the political party Futur Montréal after the incident, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and uttering threats.

The victim’s advocate, Svetlana Chernienko, highlighted the failures in the handling of domestic violence cases, emphasizing the need for better police responses and shelter protections. The woman also criticized her interactions with Montreal police and SOS Violence Conjugale, demanding investigations into their conduct.

As Muzungu awaits his court appearance, the alleged victim fears he may flee and calls for justice and accountability in the wake of the traumatic incident.
