“Imminent Dam Collapse: 14 Properties in B.C. Ordered to Evacuate Immediately”

Residents of the British Columbia Interior are on high alert as approximately 14 homes have been placed under evacuation warnings due to concerns over a nearby dam’s potential failure.

Authorities from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District have raised alarms about the possibility of an unauthorized dam at Fadear Lake giving way, which could lead to a sudden and uncontrolled surge of water into Fadear Creek.

This precautionary evacuation alert was triggered after government officials calculated the significant volume of water that could be unleashed if the dam were to collapse.

The evacuation zone encompasses properties downstream from Fadear Lake, particularly in the vicinity where Fadear Creek converges with Louis Creek.

Situated roughly 15 kilometers north of Sun Peaks Mountain and 400 kilometers northeast of Vancouver, Fadear Lake has become a focal point of concern for residents and authorities alike.

Residents within the alert area are urged to remain vigilant and ready to evacuate promptly, as an evacuation order could be issued with little advance notice.
