The City of Toronto Prepares for Major Bridge Rehab Work
The City of Toronto is gearing up for a significant infrastructure project that will impact commuters in the area. The Don Valley Parkway (DVP) southbound off-ramp to Richmond Street is set to close for bridge rehabilitation work until spring 2026.
Starting on Wednesday, Oct. 15, the off-ramp will be inaccessible to traffic. Additionally, expect one eastbound lane closure on Eastern Avenue and reduced westbound lanes on Richmond Street at Eastern. The DVP will also experience intermittent overnight lane closures.
City officials emphasize that these closures are crucial for crews to conduct essential work on four bridges and elevated roads near Eastern Avenue and Adelaide Street East. The goal is to bring these structures up to current standards to ensure the safety of vehicles and pedestrians for years to come.
In a statement released by the City this week, officials explained, “This work is being carried out in multiple stages to prioritize safety and minimize traffic disruptions wherever possible.”
Drivers needing access to downtown can utilize alternative routes such as Lake Shore Boulevard at Don Roadway, the westbound Gardiner Expressway off-ramp at Sherbourne Street, and the westbound Gardiner off-ramp at Yonge Street.
