Authorities in Toronto have confirmed that a recent fire at a popular sports bar on Danforth Avenue was deliberately set.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning last Sunday, prompting a swift response from fire crews who arrived at the location near Pape subway station around 3:25 a.m. The scene was chaotic, with flames engulfing the establishment as two individuals were seen desperately seeking refuge on the rooftop. Fortunately, emergency responders were able to rescue them using a ladder.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze before it caused further damage.
Following the incident, the Fire Marshall’s Office was called in to launch an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, with suspicions pointing towards arson as the likely culprit.
Authorities are now appealing to the public for assistance, requesting anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and may have captured footage on their dash cameras or surveillance systems to come forward and share any potentially valuable information.
