In a dramatic turn of events this summer, a late-night crash in Laval set a bank ablaze, and authorities are seeking assistance in finding the culprits.
The Laval Police Service (SPL) is reaching out to the community for help in identifying witnesses to a reckless driving episode that took place on July 25, 2025, resulting in a fire at a financial institution in the Saint-François area.
Reports started flooding in around 12:50 a.m. as multiple 911 calls alerted authorities to a vehicle colliding with a National Bank branch at 1295 du Moulin Ave. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the building.
Early findings suggest that the individuals inside the vehicle fled the scene before first responders could intervene.
Investigations by the police service revealed that the grey Volkswagen Jetta involved was speeding eastbound on Marcel-Villeneuve Blvd. before crashing into the bank head-on. Witnesses recounted seeing two individuals fleeing the scene immediately after the impact.
Specialized investigators and forensic teams have revisited the site to piece together the events and verify information gathered during the summer months.
Authorities are now calling upon anyone who witnessed the vehicle prior to the crash, observed the occupants escaping, or captured images or videos of the incident to reach out to the Info-Police line at 450-662-INFO (4636) and mention file number LVL-250725-009.
The police service remains dependent on the community’s cooperation in identifying the individuals involved.
