Soccer fans eager to catch the action of the upcoming FIFA World Cup at BC Place next summer should brace themselves for sky-high ticket prices.
Ticket reseller, Kingsley Bailey, warns that prices for World Cup tickets in Vancouver are soaring and are expected to climb even higher in the coming weeks. Bailey attributes the escalating costs to the joint hosting arrangement with the U.S. and Mexico, which has intensified competition and driven up demand.
Describing the current pricing as “wild,” Bailey reveals that tickets for a package of seven games, including two knockouts, two Canada matches, and three additional games in a hospitality suite, are already fetching around $35,000. Compared to the 2010 Winter Olympics, Bailey notes that prices for the 2026 World Cup, even when adjusted for inflation, are significantly higher, reflecting the pent-up demand for entertainment post-COVID-19.
For fans eyeing a seat in the stadium, Bailey advises a pragmatic approach, urging them to save up and manage their expectations. While Canada games may command higher prices, he emphasizes that every match promises excitement and a great experience.
Additionally, Bailey suggests that concerns about the political climate in the U.S. and potential detainment issues could impact ticket prices for Canada and Mexico matches.
Vancouver is set to host two of Canada’s group matches as part of the seven games scheduled for June. The Canadian men’s team, ranked 26th, will kick off the tournament at Toronto’s BMO Field on June 12 before heading to Vancouver for their subsequent group stage fixtures on June 18 and 24. If Canada advances, the team could potentially play up to two more games in Vancouver.
