A tragic incident unfolded in Etobicoke this week as a man from Georgetown has been arrested and charged with murder following the discovery of a deceased individual at a local business.
According to Toronto police, the incident took place at a business located in the Vulcan and Iron streets area on Monday night around 9:45 p.m.
The victim, identified as Derrick Cheung, a 35-year-old resident of Brampton, was the individual found deceased at the scene.
Lennard Emptage, a 36-year-old from Georgetown, was taken into custody on Tuesday and initially charged with improper/indecent interference with a dead body. However, subsequent investigations revealed that Cheung’s death was a result of a homicide.
Following a post-mortem examination, Emptage now faces an additional charge of second-degree murder in relation to Cheung’s tragic demise.
Emptage was scheduled to make a court appearance on Thursday to address the charges brought against him.
