“Fundraising Cyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Tragedy in Prince George; Suspect Arrested”

A man, Thomas Phillips, is facing charges in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident in Prince George that resulted in the death of one cyclist and the injury of another who was preparing for a local charity event.

According to the RCMP, Phillips is accused of offenses such as impaired driving causing death and leaving the scene of the accident.

The collision occurred on July 7 while the cyclists were training for the Cops for Cancer Tour de North fundraiser. The authorities later confirmed the death of one cyclist following the incident.

Shane Kelly, the victim, was known for his participation in various charitable cycling events besides the Prince George race. The other cyclist involved in the accident is reported to be an officer with the RCMP.

In a statement, the RCMP expressed the community’s struggle with the aftermath of the incident and highlighted the dedication of their investigators in advancing the case to the charging phase.
