Quebec police officers gear up for a province-wide road safety initiative this Thanksgiving weekend.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) announced a focused operation from Oct. 10 to 16, targeting distractions, reckless driving, and violations by large vehicles.
“This collaborative effort involves the Association of Quebec Police Directors, Sûreté du Québec, Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service, Contrôle routier Québec, and the SAAQ,” stated the SQ in a press release.
In recent police reports, reckless driving has been a major contributor to accidents. The SQ outlined specific behaviors under scrutiny during this campaign, including disregarding traffic signs, actions jeopardizing safety, illegal passing, tailgating, and using cell phones while behind the wheel.
The road safety initiative kicks off with enforcement operations on Friday, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving during the holiday weekend.
