A young man, aged 24, is in critical condition after he was hit by a train while sleeping near a railway track in Dorval, Montreal’s West Island. The incident took place around 3 a.m. in the Dorval roundabout area, close to the Montreal-Trudeau Airport.
Montreal police (SPVM) reported that the man was struck by the train while he was resting on the ground between a fence and the tracks. When emergency services arrived, the man was unconscious and had sustained serious injuries, with his life deemed to be at risk.
Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover more details about the circumstances leading to the incident. Officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM, indicated that initial findings point towards the incident being accidental.
