Upgrades to Toronto’s Critical Infrastructure to Impact Traffic Flow this Weekend
A major infrastructure upgrade project will lead to the temporary closure of College and McCaul streets in Toronto, beginning this weekend.
The intersection will be completely closed starting Sunday to facilitate the replacement of streetcar tracks, enhancement of the overhead power network, and completion of watermain work.
After the necessary track upgrades are finished, the intersection will partially reopen to accommodate traffic with some lane reductions.
During this period, the 506 Carlton streetcars will be rerouted in both directions via Dundas Street West between Spadina Avenue and Bay Street.
Additionally, the 94 Wellesley service will see an increase between Ossington and Wellesley Station. Eastbound buses affected by cycle track construction on Harbord Street will be diverted via Bloor Street West between Ossington Station and Bathurst Street, while westbound buses will also detour via Bloor Street from Spadina to Ossington.
This intersection closure is part of several major infrastructure projects currently underway in Toronto.
The replacement of tracks has led to the closure of King and Dufferin streets in the west end, while streetcar diversions have been put in place due to watermain construction and track upgrades at the Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue intersection.
