Police Rule Out Extortion in Surrey Business Shooting Incident

The Surrey Police Service is currently investigating a recent shooting incident targeting a local business overnight.

According to authorities, reports of bullet damage were received on Friday morning from the Newtown neighborhood, specifically near 124 Street and 82nd Avenue.

Fortunately, the targeted business was closed during the shooting, and there were no injuries or individuals present on the premises at the time, as confirmed by a statement from the police.

At present, investigators are diligently working at the scene to ascertain the motive behind the shooting. The Surrey Police Service has clarified that there are no apparent links to any ongoing extortion probes.

Sgt. Tige Pollock emphasized the importance of dispelling assumptions, stating, “It’s the first thing that jumps to people’s minds. So that’s why we want to let the public know that this isn’t one of those incidents or doesn’t at this stage appear to be one of the incidents.” He further noted that this aspect of the investigation is unlikely to alter.

The authorities are actively seeking additional information from the public. Sgt. Pollock mentioned that officers will continue to search for video footage, physical evidence, and speak with witnesses in the hopes of identifying the suspects involved.
