Dominique Savoie, the current chair of the board of directors at the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), expressed optimism about the progress made in the agency’s services following challenges in its digital transformation.
Speaking at the Gallant Commission, Savoie highlighted the improvements implemented at the Crown corporation since assuming her role in January. When questioned by Simon Tremblay, chief counsel for the commission, about whether this marks a new chapter for the SAAQ, Savoie agreed, stating, “I believe so. The SAAQ of 2025 is different from that of 2023. We have reduced wait times, and customer service has significantly improved, although some complaints persist.”
Despite ongoing concerns, a recent report from the Ombudsman indicated a decrease in complaints related to the SAAQ compared to the previous year. Savoie affirmed that progress has been made since the report was issued.
Savoie concluded the public hearings of the Gallant Commission as its final witness, addressing the challenges encountered in the SAAQ’s technological modernization. Commissioner Denis Gallant will now engage with experts in the field before presenting his findings by December 15.
