8-Year-Old in Victoria Triumphs Over Disability, Walks for the First Time with Cutting-Edge Robotic Legs

Born two months premature and diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, Elliot Burns from Victoria has been a fighter since day one. Despite the challenges posed by his condition and the limitations of conventional mobility aids, eight-year-old Elliot has never failed to light up a room with his infectious joy.

Elliot’s mother, Genevieve Parent, described the bulky and cumbersome nature of the mobility equipment her son has had to rely on, which often lacked the motivation to use. However, a breakthrough came when Parent discovered a revolutionary robotic mobility device designed by Canadian company Trexo Robotics.

Upon trying out the new device, Elliot was able to stand and walk independently for the first time. Parent recounted the heartwarming experience of dancing hand in hand with her son, witnessing his genuine curiosity and excitement.

The transformative moment opened up a world of possibilities for Elliot, allowing him to explore and experience life in ways previously thought unattainable. The emotional impact of this breakthrough has inspired Parent to ensure that this is just the beginning of Elliot’s journey towards greater independence and mobility.

To support the acquisition of the costly device, a crowdfunding campaign has been initiated through Support Now, successfully raising funds to lease the robotic legs for a year. This marks the start of a new chapter for Elliot, filled with hope and endless possibilities.
