A tragic incident occurred on Friday in Richmond as a 52-year-old man lost his life in a highway crash.
The fatal single-vehicle collision, which occurred around noon, led to the closure of a section of Highway 99 northbound, resulting in significant traffic delays that persisted for hours.
BC Highway Patrol Cpl. Michael McLaughlin reported, “The initial findings suggest that the driver, who perished in the accident, was the sole occupant of the white Dodge Ram flat deck.”
McLaughlin emphasized the importance of gathering more eyewitness accounts and dashcam footage to accurately determine the cause of the crash.
Authorities have confirmed that no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident, and efforts are ongoing to piece together the sequence of events.
Investigators urge anyone who observed the crash near the Steveston onramp or possesses dash-cam recordings to contact BC Highway Patrol-Burnaby at 604-526-9744, citing file (1004) 2025-1855.
