Ontario Police Make Arrest in Homicide Case, Seek Missing Man

Ontario Provincial Police have taken one individual into custody in connection with a homicide investigation in Simcoe, while also appealing for information to locate a missing person related to the case.

The police were alerted to a residence on Head Street South on October 5, where they discovered the lifeless body of a 71-year-old woman.

A 45-year-old man from Simcoe was apprehended for second-degree murder on Friday and was set to appear in court the next day. Sgt. Ed Sanchuk confirmed that the arrested individual is the deceased woman’s son.

According to an official statement from the OPP, authorities are worried about the safety of a 49-year-old man who has been missing since October 4 and was last seen in the vicinity of Head Street South.

Described as white, approximately 5’10” tall, with long dirty blond hair typically tied in a ponytail and sporting a lengthy beard, the missing man remains unaccounted for in the ongoing investigation.
