Montreal’s La Fontaine Tunnel Closed Southbound Due to Truck Collision
Transport Quebec officials have confirmed the complete closure of Montreal’s La Fontaine tunnel towards the South Shore following a truck collision with the tunnel’s entrance ceiling on a Tuesday morning.
According to Transport Quebec, efforts are underway to evaluate the situation and determine when the southbound tunnel will be reopened, but no specific timeline has been provided.
“The southbound tunnel towards the South Shore is currently closed as a result of a truck striking the entrance structure and continuing its journey,” stated officials.
The incident took place at approximately 9 a.m., with fortunately no injuries reported.
Transport Quebec assured that the closure does not affect northbound traffic flow.
