Police Reveal Identity of Victim in Strathcona Neighborhood Shooting

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has disclosed the identity of the victim in a tragic homicide that took place in Vancouver’s Strathcona district last month.

Authorities have revealed that the victim, Norman Labonte, aged 48, was fatally shot in the vicinity of Main Street and Union Street around 7 a.m. on September 30.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement personnel at the scene, Labonte was discovered with a gunshot wound and was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.

The police have affirmed that the investigation remains actively ongoing, with no charges having been brought at this time.

In a statement on the day of the incident, the VPD remarked, “It is currently unclear whether there was any prior connection between the victim and the alleged perpetrator.”
