In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a Toronto police officer sustained injuries when their cruiser was struck while responding to a collision in North York.
The incident took place at approximately 4:18 a.m. near the intersection of Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue, as reported by the Toronto Police Service (TPS). Officers were already at the scene attending to a different accident when their police vehicle was hit from behind.
According to TPS, the officer was seated inside the cruiser at the time of the collision and was subsequently taken to the hospital with what appears to be minor injuries.
Following the incident, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. His identity has not been disclosed as yet.
As a consequence of the ongoing investigation, eastbound Wilson Avenue has been shut down at Bathurst Street, leading to traffic disruptions in the vicinity.
