York Regional Police in Vaughan are conducting an investigation following a series of events that unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday morning. It all began with a reported home invasion at the intersection of Pine Valley Drive and Teston Road around 4:18 a.m. The suspects managed to flee before police arrived on the scene.
Shortly after the home invasion, authorities were alerted to a serious single-vehicle crash at the junction of Teston Road and Cityview Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Toronto.
Additional individuals who were in the vehicle reportedly fled on foot following the crash. Despite a thorough search effort by K9 units, the suspects remain at large, evading capture. The connection between the home invasion and the subsequent crash is yet to be determined by the police.
Police officers are currently present at both locations, Pine Valley Drive/Teston Road and Teston Road/Cityview Boulevard, gathering evidence. Due to the collision investigation, two northbound lanes on Cityview Boulevard are temporarily closed to traffic.
While law enforcement believes the suspects have vacated the vicinity, a heightened police presence will be maintained in the area throughout the morning. Detailed suspect descriptions have not been released by the York Regional Police, nor have they disclosed the number of individuals thought to be involved in the incidents.
