Starting this week, BC Ferries is implementing a new reservation policy for vehicles traveling from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo. The reservation requirement is specifically for journeys departing from the Vancouver side of the route. This adjustment comes as a measure to manage traffic flow during a major construction project at the Horseshoe Bay terminal.
To enhance customer experience, BC Ferries has introduced two new tools. The first is a sailing-space alert system that notifies passengers via email when space opens up on a previously fully-booked sailing. Furthermore, a digital waitlist option allows travelers to secure a spot on their desired sailing even when it appears to be fully booked.
With these changes, BC Ferries will no longer offer drive-up at-terminal options or reservation-only fares for travelers heading in the Vancouver-to-Nanaimo direction.
