A 12-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after a vehicle struck him in Oshawa on Thursday afternoon, as reported by Durham police.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m. near Windfields Farm Drive and Bandsman Crescent, a residential neighborhood close to schools and parks.
Investigators revealed that the boy was trying to cross the street when he was hit by a southbound Chevrolet. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and took the child to a nearby hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 16-year-old male, stayed at the location and cooperated with law enforcement. At this time, no charges have been filed as the investigation is ongoing.
Durham’s collision unit was summoned to inspect the site, leading to road closures in the vicinity for several hours. The police are appealing to individuals with cellphone, dash cam, or surveillance footage of the area to reach out to investigators.
