Projet and Ensemble Montréal Unveil Ambitious Plans to Expand Educational Infrastructure with More Schools

With the November 2 election fast approaching, the focus of mayoral candidates in Montreal has shifted towards addressing the needs of parents with school-aged children. Projet Montréal and Ensemble Montréal have both pledged to prioritize the construction of new schools within the city.

Projet Montréal’s leader, Luc Rabouin, emphasized the importance of having schools within neighborhoods, stating that families shouldn’t have to endure long commutes when suitable land is available nearby. Meanwhile, Stephanie Valenzuela, mayoral candidate for Ensemble Montréal, highlighted the neglect faced by the growing Triangle neighborhood and pledged to take leadership in addressing the urgent need for educational facilities and green spaces.

Ensemble Montréal aims to collaborate with the provincial government to expedite school and daycare projects, particularly in areas like Snowdon where residents have been waiting for a school for 15 years. On the other hand, Projet Montréal has been criticized for failing to deliver on promises of new schools, leaving many families disappointed.

Both parties stress the importance of providing accessible education within communities to support families and enhance neighborhood living. As the election draws near, the issue of school development has become a central focus for Montrealers.
