Health Canada Issues Recall for Roquefort Cheese Over Listeria Concerns
A popular brand of Roquefort cheese, Maison Gabriel Coulet Roquefort – La Cave, is being recalled by Health Canada due to potential Listeria contamination. The affected cheese was sold in slices and wedges in 100-gram packages at various retail outlets in Ontario and Quebec.
Identified by the UPC number 8 22775 00337 2 and a best-before date of November 3, 2025, consumers are urged to check their cheese packaging for these details. Despite no reported illnesses linked to the consumption of this cheese, health officials caution that Listeria monocytogenes contamination can lead to severe health issues.
Listeria symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle aches, headache, and neck stiffness. It’s important to note that contaminated food may not exhibit any unusual smell or appearance. If you have consumed this specific Roquefort cheese, it is recommended to monitor your health for any symptoms over the next 70 days.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is actively investigating this issue, and further recalls on additional products may follow pending the outcome of their investigation.
