“Cedars Run Hits 10th Milestone in TMR, Celebrating Legacy of Founder Dominique Dagenais”

Over the weekend, a heartwarming gathering took place as families, hospital staff, cancer patients, and survivors came together for the 10th annual Cedars Run for Ovarian Cancer in TMR. The event, which drew participants from all walks of life, aimed to raise crucial funds for the groundbreaking DOvEEgene Research Program. Spearheaded by esteemed gynecological oncologist Dr. Lucy Gilbert at MUHC, the program has pioneered a cutting-edge genomic PAP test that can detect ovarian and endometrial cancers at an early stage, offering a beacon of hope in the fight against these insidious diseases.

Attendees of the event engaged in various activities, including a 2km run/walk, a timed 5km run/walk, and a timed 10km run, all in support of the noble cause.

This year’s run held special significance as it paid tribute to the legacy of Dominique Dagenais, a resilient individual who succumbed to ovarian cancer in March 2025. Despite her own battle with the disease, Dominique channeled her strength into a larger purpose by co-founding the Dagenais Joly Smith Fund with her husband, Stephen, and son, Maxime. Through their collective efforts, the fund successfully raised over $1.2 million for the DOvEEgene Research Program.

As the Cedars community commemorated a decade of this impactful event, they renewed their dedication to fulfilling Dominique’s vision of a world where no woman falls victim to ovarian or endometrial cancer.
