“Sunday Surprise: GTA Braces for Powerful Winds, Rain, and Record-Breaking Warmth!”

Get ready for a week of fluctuating weather in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA). Environment Canada has issued a special alert, warning of high winds and rainy conditions ahead.

According to the national weather service, strong southwesterly gusts of up to 85 km/h are likely this afternoon as a cold front sweeps through the region. This system brings the possibility of thunderstorms and around 15 mm of rainfall.

CityNews meteorologist, Chris Potter, predicts that alongside the rain, temperatures will soar well above the usual for this time of year. Instead of the typical 13 degrees, expect daytime highs to reach a balmy 24 degrees, reminiscent of late summer or early fall.

Taking into account the humidity, Sunday could feel more like 28 degrees, making it a warm and muggy day. While temperatures are forecasted to return to seasonal norms, it’s advisable to keep an umbrella handy as the weather remains unsettled throughout the week.

Although not every day will be a washout, each day carries a chance of showers. Monday morning will likely see showers, clearing up by mid-morning. Tuesday morning and early afternoon should be dry, followed by another round of possible showers. Wednesday will start dry but could see showers later in the day. The trend continues into Thursday and Friday with a mix of dry spells and potential rainfall.

Expect highs ranging from 12 to 16 degrees throughout the week, with nighttime lows dropping into the single digits.
