Durham Regional Police have announced that a tragic incident unfolded near an Oshawa mosque, resulting in the death of Ibrahim Bala, an 80-year-old resident of Oshawa. The victim was found with severe injuries on a property adjacent to the Oshawa Islamic Centre. Despite efforts to save him, Bala was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the distressing discovery, authorities arrested Sohaib Bala, the victim’s 42-year-old son, on Monday afternoon. Sohaib Bala, also from Oshawa, has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Ibrahim Bala, a respected member of the Muslim community in Oshawa, tragically becomes the seventh homicide victim in the city this year.
