Montreal Police Probe Brazen Arson Attempt at Commercial Hub in RDP

Authorities in Montreal are currently looking into an incident where a commercial property in the Rivière-des-Prairies neighborhood was targeted in an attempted arson in the early hours of Tuesday.

The Montreal Police received a call at approximately 1 a.m. alerting them to the situation at a building located on Henri-Bourassa Blvd. close to Rodolphe-Forget Blvd.

Upon reaching the site, law enforcement found that the fire had either self-extinguished or been put out by sprinkler systems. Caroline Chèvrefils, a representative from the Montreal Police, stated, “Initial reports suggest that one or more individuals may have thrown flammable materials into the building and fled before police arrived.”

Chèvrefils clarified that the building suffered minor damage primarily due to water from the sprinklers being activated.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there have been no arrests in connection with the incident thus far.

The case has been handed over to the Montreal Police arson division for further investigation.
