Quebec Motorist Slapped with Whopping $1,300 Fine for Blazing Past Speed Limits

A 19-year-old motorist faced a hefty $1,386 penalty for speeding excessively in Montérégie over the weekend.

Patrol officers from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Ouest MRC pulled over the young driver in the early hours of Sunday as he was caught speeding on the Monseigneur-Langlois Bridge in Coteau-du-Lac.

Reportedly, the driver from Rivière-Beaudette was clocked at 138 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, leading to the significant fine and a deduction of 14 demerit points, as stated by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) in a recent announcement. Additionally, his driving license was suspended for a seven-day period.

The SQ emphasized that speeding remains a major factor contributing to fatal accidents on Quebec’s roads.
