Charges Loom for Protester After London, Ont. Conference Building Vandalized

London police have reported that a 34-year-old woman is now facing a series of charges following an incident involving the damaging of a conference building in the city. The woman, hailing from Owen Sound, Ontario, allegedly used a hammer to disrupt the electronic locks at the entrance of the building during a protest.

According to authorities, the woman attempted to evade capture by blending into a group of fellow protesters before being apprehended. The incident took place outside the Best Defence Conference held at RBC Place in downtown London. The protest, led by a group advocating for Palestinian rights, aimed to call for a Canadian arms embargo on Israel.

In addition to the building disruption, protesters also obstructed a parking garage using construction materials and engaged in acts of vandalism towards conference staff with thrown paint. The cost of damages incurred at the conference site is estimated to be around $32,000.

The arrested woman is now facing charges including mischief over $5,000, conspiracy to commit a serious offense, resisting arrest, and intent to disguise.
