In the world of hockey, each line change can alter the course of a game, but off the ice, the City of Laval and the Laval Rocket are joining forces once again for a different kind of victory — one that saves lives.
Mark your calendars for the 52nd annual Laval residents’ blood drive, set to take place on Tuesday, November 4, at Place Bell, with the ambitious aim of gathering 550 blood donations in just one day.
In partnership with Héma-Québec, this event brings together locals, Rocket players, and city officials in a remarkable display of community unity.
From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., residents are invited to donate blood in a warm and supportive atmosphere. Walk-ins and appointments are both welcome, but organizers recommend securing a spot in advance through the online booking system or by phone.
Mayor Stéphane Boyer expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “With the Laval Rocket and Héma-Québec as teammates, our chances of scoring goals and triumphing for those in need of blood donations are high. The Laval residents’ Blood Drive showcases our community’s outstanding and meaningful involvement. Place Bell will be specially set up to ensure donors have a pleasant experience.”
Participants will have the chance to mingle with Rocket players and local representatives while contributing to a crucial cause.
Head coach Pascal Vincent emphasized the personal significance of this year’s blood drive. He was deeply moved by the overwhelming support shown by fans and residents at last year’s event.
Vincent stated, “The Laval Rocket organization is thrilled to partner with the City and Héma-Québec once more this year. Having witnessed the camaraderie at last season’s Laval residents’ Blood Drive, I can attest to the presence of our fans and numerous donors. Every donation is invaluable, as we all know someone who may require this life-saving gift at some point. Join us — the team and me — at Place Bell on November 4.”
Most healthy adults are eligible to donate blood.
Héma-Québec stresses that blood is a vital communal resource, and its availability hinges on community involvement.
“Blood is a precious gift that is universally accessible and it is the responsibility of all to contribute,” emphasized Sylvain Lauzé, donor recruitment advisor at Héma-Québec. “Whether with or without an appointment, unite to save lives. Every donation makes a difference.”
To secure an appointment, visit the website or call 1-800-343-7264. Eligibility can be verified online under Donors > Blood > Can I give?, or by contacting a representative at 1-800-847-2525.
For those without appointments, on-site registration will be open throughout the day at Place Bell.
The Laval residents’ blood drive is a collaborative effort among the City of Laval, Héma-Québec, and the Laval Rocket. Further information can be found at evenements.laval.ca.
