Last month, the Vancouver Police Department made a significant breakthrough by apprehending three individuals linked to a criminal network operating in the Downtown Eastside area. The suspects, who are not residents of the neighborhood, were discovered to be conducting illegal activities from multiple suites in the West Hotel on Carrall Street. These activities reportedly included trafficking illicit drugs, weapons, and stolen goods.
Sergeant Steve Addison expressed concern over how organized criminals continue to exploit the most vulnerable members of the community. He highlighted that, in this instance, criminals were depriving those in need of essential housing by their actions.
Acting on search warrants on September 25, the VPD uncovered a substantial amount of evidence, including a seizure of $35,000 in cash, illicit drugs valued at approximately $336,000 on the street, and around $30,000 worth of stolen clothing and retail products.
In addition to the cash and drugs, the police confiscated various other items as part of the operation.
The Vancouver Police Department is slated to hold a media event at 11:30 a.m. to provide further details regarding the investigation.
