“Mark Your Calendars: Mount Dennis Welcomes New GO Transit and UP Express Station on November 16!”

Residents in the west-end of Toronto will soon have convenient access to the GO Transit and UP Express train networks with the upcoming opening of the Mount Dennis transfer station in mid-November.

On Thursday, the Ontario government announced that the Mount Dennis GO and UP station will open on Nov. 16. Situated at the western terminus of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, near Eglinton Avenue West and Weston Road, the station will provide easy boarding for GO Transit customers on the Kitchener line and access to Union-Pearson Express trains for local residents.

During a recent tour of the Mount Dennis station in 2024, CityNews observed the final construction stages, which included the addition of four new platforms to accommodate GO and UP Express services. The station is housed in the former Kodak Building 9, which has been repurposed into a multi-modal station and community space featuring a gym and stage on the upper floor.

Additionally, a massive bus terminal and loop with 15 bays have been set up just outside the station building to facilitate various routes serving the western part of Toronto. With the TTC reorganizing several routes for the full launch of Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown, the Mount Dennis station will be a crucial transportation hub.

The station area is interconnected by passageways and entry points equipped with fare gates, along with retail spaces and a notable public art installation. A bicycle storage locker is conveniently located on the west side of the property for commuters’ convenience.

As Mount Dennis prepares to enhance its transportation infrastructure, construction is also underway at the Eglinton Crosstown Caledonia station for a new GO Transit train station serving Barrie line trains.
