The BC RCMP announced the successful retrieval of a vehicle from the Squamish River, which had originally plunged into the water during a single-vehicle crash on June 14.
Upon receiving reports of the crash, Mounties and emergency responders rushed to the scene to find three individuals who had narrowly escaped the sinking vehicle before it submerged in the river. However, one person remains missing despite the recovery of the vehicle.
Assisting in the operation, Squamish Search and Rescue and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team played crucial roles.
The investigation by the Sea to Sky GIS is ongoing in relation to the incident.
The hazardous conditions of the deep and fast-flowing Squamish River, intensified by spring runoff, posed challenges for search and rescue efforts, leading to temporary halts in the search for the missing individual in the days following the crash.
