The Surrey city council has granted initial approval for the proposed Costco in South Surrey, sparking concerns among nearby residents. Mayor Brenda Locke reassured residents that the city is taking their worries about increased traffic seriously. She emphasized that city officials are actively working on ways to address these concerns by improving road accessibility.
Mayor Locke affirmed that the city’s engineering department is studying possible solutions to manage the expected surge in car activity due to the new Costco location. The council approved the first two readings of a rezoning application for the wholesale store during a recent meeting.
In response to public apprehension, Mayor Locke confirmed that residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinions during a public hearing before any final decision is made on the proposed project. She promised that the city is committed to evaluating and enhancing the road infrastructure in the area to accommodate the potential influx of traffic.
The crucial public hearing is set to take place on November 17, providing a platform for concerned citizens to express their views and contribute to the decision-making process regarding the Costco development in South Surrey.
