“Justice Sought: Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Lapu-Lapu Day Catastrophe”

A new class-action lawsuit has been filed involving the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Coastal Health, and a man accused of crashing an SUV into a crowd at a lively Filipino street festival earlier this year.

John Lind, the plaintiff in the case, attended the Lapu-Lapu Day festival with his family and suffered severe injuries, including post-traumatic stress disorder, rib fractures, and a punctured spleen.

The lawsuit claims that the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Police Department failed to anticipate the risk of unlawful entry at the festival, as there was no dedicated police presence despite the event’s expected high attendance.

Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that Vancouver Coastal Health allowed the suspect, Kai-Ji Adam Lo, to be on extended leave from a mental health facility.

John Lind is seeking compensation for himself and others who experienced personal injury, loss of income, statutory compensation entitlement, future care costs, and out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Kai-Ji Adam Lo faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder, with a judge ruling him fit to stand trial in September, although a trial date is pending.

This class-action lawsuit was filed recently but awaits certification by the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and none of the claims have been proven in court.
