“Alert: E. coli Contamination Triggers Recall of Ground Beef at Ontario Grocery Stores”

A grocery store in London, Ontario, has issued a recall for several ground beef products over potential E.coli contamination, as reported by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The affected products, including ground beef, beef hamburgers, beef sojuk, and beef fat, were packed on October 5 and 6, 2025, and sold at Pistachios Quality Meats & Groceries located at 1695 Wonderland Road North in London. The CFIA states that the recall was initiated due to test results revealing the presence of E.coli, although no illness cases related to the contamination have been reported so far.

E.coli-infected food may not exhibit any signs of spoilage in appearance or odor, but consuming it can lead to various health issues. Symptoms of E.coli contamination can range from nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps to severe cases of watery or bloody diarrhea. In extreme situations, individuals may experience seizures, strokes, require blood transfusions or kidney dialysis, and suffer from permanent kidney damage or even fatalities.

If you suspect that you have fallen ill after consuming any of the recalled products, it is recommended to seek immediate medical attention. The CFIA advises against consuming, serving, selling, or distributing the recalled items and urges individuals to either dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased.
