“Get Ready to Ride: Metrolinx Boosts GO Train Service with New Trips and Revamped Schedules Beginning Monday!”

Major improvements are on the horizon for GO Train riders starting next week. Metrolinx is set to roll out changes across five rail lines to enhance service reliability and ease congestion for commuters.

The Lakeshore East line will see a boost with the introduction of six new rush hour trips. Among these additions, one will depart from Durham College Oshawa GO, while two others will head from Whitby GO towards Union. Additionally, three new afternoon trips from Union to Whitby are in the cards.

Meanwhile, the Stouffville Line will benefit from two fresh rush hour trips. The first will kick off at Unionville GO at 7:59 a.m., making all stops towards Union. The second trip will depart Union at 4:50 p.m., hitting all stops before reaching Unionville.

On the Barrie Line, commuters can expect two extra rush hour trips. An early morning departure from Aurora GO at 7:20 a.m. will make its way towards Union, while a new afternoon trip will leave Union at 4:53 p.m., stopping at all stations before reaching Aurora.

For those utilizing the Richmond Hill Line, note that all southbound trips will now leave up to seven minutes earlier than usual.

Exciting news for transit riders in Hamilton and Niagara – the opening of Confederation GO on October 27 will offer expanded accessibility. This means that all existing Lakeshore West trips serving Niagara Falls on weekdays and weekends will now include a stop at the new station.

Furthermore, starting November 1, there will be a significant increase in weekend trips to Niagara Falls GO, with eight trips per day – up from the current three.

Metrolinx is not only adding new trips but also fine-tuning schedules across various lines to better align with actual travel times. Commuters are urged to check the GO Train website in advance for updated schedules.
