“Quebec Voters Seize Early Opportunity to Shape Cities’ Futures Before Nov. 2 Election”

Quebec residents have the opportunity to vote early in over 1,100 municipalities ahead of the provincewide election on November 2.

Today, the advance polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m., but there have been delays in citizens receiving their voter information cards due to the Canada Post strike.

Élections Québec emphasizes that voters must present identification to participate, and the addresses of advance polling locations can be found on municipality websites.

Voter turnout for municipal elections in Quebec has been declining, with only 39% of residents voting in 2021 compared to 45% in 2017.

In Montreal, 3,200 poll workers will be stationed at 200 polling stations on Sunday. A pilot project at 16 post-secondary institutions in the city allows eligible students to vote regardless of their borough of residence.

On Saturday, approximately 1,200 Montreal residents voted from home due to health reasons, facilitated by dedicated teams across the city, a service also available in larger cities like Quebec City and Sherbrooke.

Polling stations will be open on election day, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout Quebec.
