Arson Attempt Shakes Montreal Neighborhood: NDG Duplex Targeted in Nighttime Attack

In the early hours of Monday morning, Montreal police are looking into an alleged attempted arson incident that took place at a duplex in the NDG borough. The incident, which occurred on Girouard Avenue near Saint-Jacques Street, was reported around 1:40 a.m.

SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin stated that by the time police arrived at the scene, the fire had already extinguished itself. Initial reports suggest that one or more suspects ignited a fire at the front entrance of the duplex before fleeing before the authorities’ arrival. Incendiary materials were discovered at the site, and the building sustained minor damages.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The investigation has been handed over to the SPVM arson squad, and they are actively looking into the matter.
