Live Nation Canada has announced exciting plans to enhance the popular music venue at Ontario Place, transforming it into the RBC Amphitheatre through a new partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada. The venue will undergo renovations starting in fall 2027 and is set to reopen in spring 2029 with expanded lawn seating and modern features for year-round entertainment.
The revitalized amphitheatre, previously known as Budweiser Stage, will be a key attraction in the redevelopment of Toronto’s western waterfront area. The renovation project includes increasing summer lawn seating capacity, adding movable enclosures for winter concerts, and introducing new amenities such as a lookout platform and elevators for improved accessibility.
Live Nation Canada is committed to preserving the beloved lawn space and skyline views that make the amphitheatre a fan favorite. The revamped venue will accommodate 2,000 more fans on the lawn, with a total lawn capacity of 9,000 and a warm-weather capacity of 18,000. The redesign will also feature a new modern pavilion structure with enhanced acoustics and a roof that can enclose the space for indoor events during cooler months.
In addition to the amphitheatre upgrades, the broader redevelopment plans for Ontario Place include parkland, walking trails, and a beach. However, there is some controversy surrounding the addition of a spa and waterpark operated by Therme Canada within the area.
The renovation project aims to maintain the essence of the existing amphitheatre while enhancing its facilities and functionality. Live Nation Canada looks forward to welcoming music fans to the revitalized RBC Amphitheatre, offering a top-notch entertainment experience with a stunning backdrop of Toronto’s skyline.
