“Streetcar Track Renovation Complete: King and Dufferin Intersection Reopens This Thursday!”

The intersection of King Street West and Dufferin Street is all set to reopen this Thursday, marking the completion of streetcar track upgrades that finished ahead of schedule.

This particular area had been closed off since late September for the installation of new streetcar tracks and maintenance work, with the original completion date set for mid-November.

After wrapping up the construction early, City officials announced that vehicles, cyclists, and TTC buses will soon be able to pass through the intersection once it officially reopens.

While regular bus service on the 29/329 Dufferin and 929 Dufferin Express routes will resume, the King streetcar will remain on diversion as crews conduct tests on the newly installed tracks.

According to the latest update, TTC crews will be testing the new streetcar tracks during the week of November 3. During this phase, the 504A King/304 King and 508 Lake Shore streetcars will be redirected via Queen Street West between Shaw Street and Roncesvalles Avenue. The 504B King streetcars will continue to operate on a shorter route to Bathurst Street.

As part of the adjustments, buses on the 503 Kingston Road route will be temporarily extended beyond Dufferin Street, running between Bingham Loop (Kingston Road at Victoria Park Avenue) and Roncesvalles Avenue, making stops along King Street until regular streetcar service resumes.

For those requiring Wheel-Trans service, it will remain available in areas where local traffic is permitted.
