Surrey Police Arrest Main Suspect in Overnight Shooting Incident
A 46-year-old man was apprehended by the Surrey Police Service (SPS) in connection with an overnight shooting in Surrey. The incident took place before 8:45 p.m. on Sunday near the 14100 block of 72 Avenue.
Sgt. Lindsey Houghton stated that SPS officers swiftly responded to the scene and arrested the suspect, who was still present at the location. The residence bore visible damage from multiple gunshots fired during the confrontation.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting. The apprehended suspect, identified as David Bruce Baxter, has been formally charged with attempted murder using a firearm and discharging a firearm at a residence.
Baxter is currently in police custody and is set to make a court appearance on Monday afternoon. The SPS has clarified that the incident is unrelated to extortion.
