Two Brampton men are in trouble with the law after concocting a false tale about a carjacking incident.
Authorities from Caledon reported being summoned to look into an alleged carjacking that supposedly occurred on September 18 near Old School Road and Mississauga Road.
According to the police, one of the individuals claimed that their vehicle had been in a collision and that two individuals, one of whom was armed with a handgun, forcibly took their car and made a swift getaway.
Upon thorough investigation, law enforcement discovered that the carjacking was a ruse and part of an elaborate fraudulent scheme.
Raji Sharma, aged 38, and Meeraj Tandon, aged 40, both hailing from Brampton, have been charged with public mischief and fraud exceeding $5,000.
The duo is set to make a court appearance at a later time to address the allegations.
