Montreal Police Probe Suspicious SUV Blaze in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie: Arson Suspected

Montreal police are currently probing an incident of arson involving a vehicle in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie area on Tuesday night.

Reports came in around 10:40 p.m. when multiple 911 calls alerted officers to a burning SUV parked on 9th Avenue, adjacent to Dandurand Street.

Upon arrival, SPVM media relations officer Caroline Chèvrefils stated, “Police quickly found the vehicle ablaze, with the Montreal fire department arriving soon after to douse the flames.”

The primary vehicle involved has been deemed a total loss by SPVM authorities.

“Additionally, a nearby SUV suffered some damage, and traces of incendiary materials were discovered at the scene,” Chèvrefils added.

Based on witness accounts, it is believed that more than one perpetrator set the fire and fled before law enforcement arrived.

The case has been handed over to the SPVM arson unit, and the burnt SUV has been towed for forensic analysis.
