Parolee Convicted in 2007 Teen Murder Re-Arrested Amid New Allegations

A man previously convicted for the 2007 killing of a teenager in Dorval has been apprehended following months of eluding parole authorities.

James Gould, 41, was captured by the police on Tuesday evening outside an apartment complex in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood.

Authorities had issued an arrest warrant for Gould back in August, along with orders for his arrest and return to incarceration.

During the arrest, Gould was found in possession of a firearm and reportedly put up resistance before being subdued by the Montreal Police tactical team.

Appearing in court the next day, Gould faced charges related to the unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of stolen goods. He is currently in custody awaiting transfer to prison as per the terms of his arrest warrant.

Another individual, a 35-year-old woman, was also detained at the scene, where police discovered a suitcase containing nearly $950,000 in cash.

Gould, who had previously received parole for the manslaughter conviction of 18-year-old Karina Esquivel in 2007, had stopped reporting to his community correctional center three months prior, prompting the issuance of the arrest warrant.

The investigation into the woman’s involvement is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the authorities or provide anonymous tips through Info-Crime Montreal.
