Second Suspect Nabbed in Chilling Etobicoke Stabbing Case from Last Year

Another individual has been accused of murder in connection with a fatal stabbing incident that occurred in Etobicoke last year.

The event unfolded at the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Islington Avenue early in the morning on September 12, 2024, prompting a swift response from emergency services following a 911 call.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement learned that a confrontation had taken place involving multiple individuals, resulting in injuries to two people. Tragically, one of the victims sustained critical wounds and was swiftly transported to the hospital by paramedics, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified as 36-year-old Jesse Christian Halvorsen from Toronto.

The second male involved in the altercation was also stabbed but managed to flee the scene. Identified as Shawn Downs-Abbott from Toronto, he was later located and received treatment for his non-life-threatening injuries, subsequently being charged with second-degree murder.

Subsequent developments in the case led to the arrest of Michael Jones, aged 61 and with no fixed address, on October 29, 2025. Jones has been similarly charged with second-degree murder and is set to appear in court on Thursday.
